A large part of my job at The Preiss Company involves planning and executing events for current residents. With the onset of COVID-19, my team and I worked to come up with ways to continue to host fun events for our residents while respecting social distancing. Many of these events will be permanently implemented, even when the pandemic has subsided.

 

In an effort to support local, we partnered with local restaurants and food trucks to connect with our residents. These businesses provide our residents with special deals and convenient delivery specials. Food trucks scheduled days to spend outside of each property to provide dinner to residents right outside of their home. Our marketing team raffled off coupons to residents through our Instagram page to encourage residents to support local.

Door Delivery Kits became one of the most popular events we hosted. Our team put together all the supplies needed to create themed DIY kits. Residents would reserve their spot online and we would deliver them to their doorsteps. Examples of kits we created include:

DIY Cookie Kit - cookie mix, frosting, sprinkles, cookie cutters, oven mitt, spatula

Build Your Own Succulent Garden - small succulent plant, planter, soil, care instructions

DIY S'mores - featuring all your favorite ingredients to make the perfect s'mores, an indoor flame, and marshmallow sticks

Tie-Dye Kits - featuring all the supplies you need to tie-dye a t-shirt

During the lockdown in April 2020, we created a weekly at-home event series we called the Block Party. Each Friday in April, we provide residents with a playlist, recipe, and games all in accordance with a certain theme for the week. We encourage them to have a fun night in with their quarantine buddies using the tools we provide! As a bonus, we partnered with local businesses to provide residents with discounts on Block Party nights.

In addition, we created ​The Ultimate Quarantine Survival Guide. This is a comprehensive list of "staff favorites" that we sent to residents to give them ideas on how to stay occupied during the lockdown.
